We are excited to introduce a new face to all of you. Adam Evans has a lot of experience in security and compliance will be an amazing addition to the Axiom team. We are excited to watch him thrive in Information Technology. Our team asked Adam some questions to get to know him better and we wanted to share them with all of you.

Where are you from and where did you go to school?

I’m from Streetsboro, Ohio – a nice little town between Cleveland and Akron. I graduated from Maplewood Career Center after attending their Information Technology program.

Brief history of your professional experience:

I started my career in technology as a teenager, fixing computers for friends and family before getting a job in the tech department at a big box retail store. From there, I got my first job as a helpdesk technician at a local managed service provider. I spent a long time there, moving through many different roles but cybersecurity was always a passion that I enjoyed exploring through my work. It was here that I received my first taste of compliance when a client submitted a ticket asking for assistance with NIST 800-171 compliance. I really enjoyed digging into that topic and learning about these frameworks.

From there, I moved to a different MSP where I was able to continue to grow my skills before leading their security department. I was able to focus on many different aspects of information security, governance, and compliance. This gave me a ton of opportunities to continue to learn, grow, and to safeguard the organizations we served.

As I grew, I had many opportunities to attend industry conferences which allowed me to network with some incredible folks. After many conversations with people at these events, I finally decided that maybe I could share some of my knowledge and experience with the rest of the community – having spoken at MSPGeekCon, IT Nation Secure, and many more.

It was these opportunities that lead me to an awesome conversation about the impacts of CMMC on our industry at IT Nation Secure 2023. Little did I know at the time, but that conversation would lead me to the wonderful team at Axiom.

What does technology (maybe more geared towards security) mean to you?

Technology to me has always been a medium for connection and new possibilities – a way to lower barriers and bring folks together. However, as technology has evolved, so have the risks. But these risks and challenges have a real impact on our friends, families, and neighbors. So, for me, I feel that it’s my responsibility to use what I’ve learned and to apply the skills I’ve refined over the years to protect this wonderful medium that has facilitated so many opportunities for our communities.

What are you the most excited for, when joining the Axiom team?

I’m excited about what the future has in store. We’ve got monumental tasks ahead of us, and I can’t wait to get to work with everyone on the team!

What is your favorite thing about helping clients stay secure and protected?

My favorite thing about helping clients stay safe and secure are those little moments where the staff can take the little lessons they’ve learned home to their personal lives to be a little more security aware.
